My name is Tamara, and I am the owner of My Path Forward. I originally started My Path Forward as a career coaching business, though I made a big shift to personal training and coaching when I was caring for my Gran, as I saw there was a big need for the conversations we weren’t having around our own health and fitness as we age.
My Gran is one of the biggest influences in my life. She was my rock and I am so grateful that I had her in my life, and got to care for her in her last years of life.
Sport and exercise had been a part of my life since I was a kid. One of my first goals was to compete at the 1996 Olympic Games. While this didn’t happen for many reasons sport was still a big part of my identity. Though the importance of exercise beyond competitive sports really didn’t hit home until I was caring for my Gran. She had many health issues as she aged, and as I like to understand what is going on I researched a lot. What I found was that many of these health issues started around menopause time and the impacts could be reduced through exercise and weight training. Right then I knew this is what I needed to do. Help women maintain their fitness and health to conquer their lives as they aged.
One of the last things I told her before she died was that I was studying to become a personal trainer and she was the reason. I was doing it for her and because of it she would be with me every day. I am so proud of what I do and so passionate about helping women to be their best, because I know that the quality of your life is dependent on how well you feel, move and your personal level of independence. When that is gone, life is far behind.
